Do I need a visa for Umrah as a Dutch (or Belgian) citizen?
Yes, for an Umrah trip to Saudi Arabia, you always need a visa, regardless of your nationality, unless you already have a valid visa for Saudi Arabia. For Dutch and Belgian passport holders, this is usually a specific Umrah visa or nowadays a tourist visa that allows Umrah. The good news is that we take care of the visa application for you after your booking. You provide the necessary documents, and we ensure that you receive the correct visa before departure. Without a visa, you cannot enter the country, so this is an essential part of the preparation.
Do you arrange the Umrah visa for me?
Yes, we arrange the visa as part of the package. You do not have to go to the embassy or deal with complicated forms – we take that work off your hands. After your booking, you will receive instructions on how to provide us with the necessary documents (passport scan, passport photo, etc.). We then submit the application through official channels. You will ultimately receive the visa document (usually by email) from us. So in short: we ensure that your visa is in order, provided you give us the right papers in time.
Can I travel for Umrah on a tourist visa instead of an Umrah visa?
Yes, that is possible. Saudi Arabia now allows holders of a regular tourist visa (e-visa) to perform Umrah, except during the busy Hajj season. This tourist visa is a multiple-entry visa that can be valid for 90 days. If you already have such a visa or specifically choose it (for example, because you want to stay longer or travel in and out multiple times), you can use it for your Umrah. Please let us know about this, so we know that we do not need to apply for a separate Umrah visa. We can also assist in obtaining such a tourist e-visa if you wish.
What documents are required for an Umrah visa?
You will need a valid passport that is at least 6 months valid after the planned trip, and a passport photo that meets the official requirements. In addition, you must be able to show a vaccination certificate (against COVID-19 or meningococci) if that is required at that time – but these rules change, we will keep you informed. Furthermore, we ask for your personal details (address, occupation, etc.) for the application form. So concretely: passport, passport photo, and possibly vaccination certificate. We will take care of the rest of the paperwork, such as invitation letters or travel itineraries, if necessary.
How long is an Umrah visa valid and how long can I stay in Saudi Arabia?
An Umrah visa is usually valid for 30 days from the date of issue. This means you can enter Saudi Arabia within those 30 days and stay for a maximum of 30 days. However, most pilgrims only stay for 1 to 2 weeks. You are allowed to travel freely in the country during that validity period (except during Hajj days when there are restrictions), but after the 30 days, you must leave the country to avoid fines. If you use a tourist visa, you can usually stay for up to 90 days. We plan our packages within the validity period, so you do not have to worry about your visa expiring before the end of the trip.
Can my child (under 12 years old) accompany me on Umrah? Is there a minimum age?
Children are welcome on Umrah, there is no religious minimum age to attend the rituals. However, Saudi Arabia had a visa restriction for young children until recently: currently (as of 2025) they issue Umrah visas from 12 years and older. However, children under 12 can still accompany you, but then on a tourist visa together with their parents. In practice, this means you can take your child with you, only the visa route is slightly different for <12. We will of course help arrange that. There is no objection to also taking babies or toddlers (many families do that), as long as you assess that your child can handle the trip.
